The main themes for this update are security-related configuration options and user interface improvements. Here&#8217;s a short overview of what\u2019s new:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"padding-bottom: 16px;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">More configuration options for password criteria.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-bottom: 16px;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/article\/password-policy-management\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Password policies<\/a> that can be applied to specific types of people (using <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/article\/roles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">roles<\/a>).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-bottom: 16px;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Explicit control for how multi-factor authentication (MFA) codes are communicated (SMS, email and\/or authenticator application).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-bottom: 16px;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Collapsable <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/article\/the-sidebar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">sidebars<\/a> across the Smartabase web application to provide more screen space.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-bottom: 16px;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Improved user experience when accessing the <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/article\/application-specification\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">data specification<\/a> tool.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-bottom: 16px;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">A new tool for whitelisting IP addresses to reduce unnecessary multi-factor authentication (MFA).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-bottom: 16px;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Expanded configuration options for connections between enterprise sites.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #333333;\">More configuration options for password criteria<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">In <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/2019\/11\/29\/smartabase-6-2-release-notes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">version 6.2<\/a> of Smartabase we added the ability for you to request changes to the site-wide password policy. Now, in version 6.5, we\u2019ve added more options to help you increase the security of your organisation\u2019s people and data. This means that, as a <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/article\/application-details\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">default for your Smartabase site<\/a>, we can help you to specify:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"padding-bottom: 16px;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Maximum <strong>password change frequency<\/strong> &#8211; how often can someone\u2019s password be changed?<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-bottom: 16px;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><strong>Enforced password changes<\/strong> after a set period &#8211; how long should a password be useable for?<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-bottom: 16px;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Prohibiting the use of <strong>previous passwords<\/strong> &#8211; should people be able to re-use old passwords?<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-bottom: 16px;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Prohibiting matches to <strong>common patterns<\/strong> &#8211; is it okay for passwords to include sequences like 1234 or qwerty?<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-bottom: 16px;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Maximum <strong>password length<\/strong> &#8211; can people make passwords longer than, for example, 24, 35 or 90 characters?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-6401\" src=\"https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Site-password-policy-example.png\" alt=\"A screenshot showing an example of a site-wide password policy\" width=\"600\" height=\"435\" srcset=\"https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Site-password-policy-example.png 1155w, https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Site-password-policy-example-300x217.png 300w, https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Site-password-policy-example-768x557.png 768w, https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Site-password-policy-example-1024x742.png 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Please reach out to your service team contact if you want to make changes to your default password policy. Also note that these new criteria are also available for <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/article\/roles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">role<\/a>-specific password policies (see below for more on this).<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">(!) <strong>Warning<\/strong>: to maintain our commitment to the security of your data, Fusion Sport is required to make certain changes to all current default password policies. These changes will come into effect on all sites as they are updated to version 6.5 of Smartabase:<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"padding-bottom: 16px;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><strong>Maximum<\/strong> <strong>password change frequency<\/strong> will be set at two (2) per day by the <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/article\/user-accounts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">user account<\/a> owner and five (5) per day per user account when carried out by a site administrator.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-bottom: 16px;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><strong>Preventing re-use of previous passwords<\/strong>: the eight (8) most recently used passwords will not be accepted for use as a new password.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Because this is a change to the default policy, all accounts are covered by these protections, including athletes, coaches, team administrators, site administrators, site builders and accounts used for integrated technologies, Fusion Sport support or internal testing within your organisation.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Create password policies for roles<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">You can now make use of a new <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/article\/password-policy-management\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">password policy management tool<\/a> for administrators to configure and apply password policies on a <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/article\/roles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">role<\/a>-by-<a href=\"https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/article\/roles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">role<\/a> basis. If someone has multiple password policies (for example, because they have two roles), the strictest criteria from each policy will be enforced. Note that this measure also takes into account the <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/article\/application-details\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">site-wide policy<\/a>, so if a policy created by an administrator is less strict than the site policy, the site policy will override the administrator\u2019s policy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-6402\" src=\"https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Password-policy-example.png\" alt=\"A screenshot showing an example of a password policy created by an administrator using the password policy tool\" width=\"600\" height=\"558\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Because password policies have an immediate and significant effect on <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/article\/logging-in\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the login experience<\/a> for people accessing Smartabase, we\u2019ve added a special <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/article\/smartabase-system-permissions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">system permission<\/a> for using this tool. Please contact our customer service team if you would like to use the password policies tool within your organisation, and we\u2019ll make sure you\u2019ve got everything you need to know to use it effectively.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Choose how multi-factor authentication codes are communicated<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Many of you are using multi-factor authentication (MFA) to help the members of your organisation keep their account secure. In previous versions of Smartabase, when someone went through the <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/article\/logging-in#multi-factor-authentication\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">process of multi-factor authentication<\/a>, Smartabase would generate and send a time-based-one-time-password (MFA code) via email and SMS (text message). People could also generate the MFA code using an authenticator app, but they\u2019d always receive the MFA code as a communication from Smartabase as well.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">In Smartabase version 6.5, there are three specific preferences for the method of getting an MFA code:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"padding-bottom: 16px;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Authentication app only (most secure).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-bottom: 16px;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">SMS or authentication app.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-bottom: 16px;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Email, SMS or authentication app (least secure).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Like password policies, there is more than one level at which MFA communication preferences can be set:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"padding-bottom: 16px;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">As <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/article\/application-details\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">site<\/a>-wide default setting &#8211; your Fusion Sport consultant can put this in place for you.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-bottom: 16px;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">On a <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/article\/roles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">role<\/a>-by-<a href=\"https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/article\/roles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">role<\/a> basis, set by a Smartabase administrator.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-bottom: 16px;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">At the individual <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/article\/user-accounts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">user account<\/a>\u00a0level, chosen by the user account owner.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Note that, as with password policies, a strict setting at the <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/article\/application-details\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">site<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/article\/roles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">role<\/a> level will reduce the choices at the <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/article\/roles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">role<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/article\/user-accounts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">user account<\/a> level respectively. So if you update someone\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/article\/roles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">role<\/a> to only communicate MFA codes via authentication app or SMS, they won\u2019t see the option in their <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/article\/user-accounts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">user account<\/a> to receive MFA codes via email.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Collapse sidebars across the Smartabase web application<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Every time you see a <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/article\/the-sidebar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">sidebar<\/a> in the Smartabase web application, you can now collapse it! This gives everyone more space to view and interact with their data.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-6403\" src=\"https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Sidebar-collapse.gif\" alt=\"A screen recording showing the collapsible sidebar being used in the resources module\" width=\"300\" height=\"444\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">This applies to all areas of the user interface, including within the administration and building interfaces. For example, you can collapse the <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/article\/the-sidebar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">sidebar<\/a> menu that houses controls for the <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/article\/my-resources\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">resources tool<\/a> to have more screen space to review your search results. Then, hover your mouse over the collapsed <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/article\/the-sidebar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">sidebar<\/a> border to bring back the resource search menu and interact with the controls in it.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Explore the structure of your Smartabase site with improvements to the data specification tool<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/article\/application-specification\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">data specification tool<\/a> for Smartabase builders provides you with a birds-eye view of all forms that exist on your site, along with important settings within forms that affect your whole site (whether a form uses the <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/article\/analytics-connector-overview\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Smartabase analytics connector<\/a> or if a field is set as a <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/article\/status-indicators\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">status indicator<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/article\/critical-information\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">critical information<\/a>).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-6404\" src=\"https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Data-specification-example.png\" alt=\"A screenshot showing an example of the viewing options available in the data specification tool\" width=\"400\" height=\"281\" srcset=\"https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Data-specification-example.png 1086w, https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Data-specification-example-300x211.png 300w, https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Data-specification-example-768x540.png 768w, https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Data-specification-example-1024x720.png 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">The new navigation options on the side allow you to quickly reduce the amount of information you are looking at. Then, you can use the dropdown in each section to review the outline for a specific form. We\u2019ve improved the styling as well to make the information easier for you to interact with and interpret.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Whitelist trusted IP addresses to avoid unneeded multi-factor authentication<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">If you\u2019re a Smartabase administrator, you may be able to make use of the new security whitelisting tool (talk to your Fusion Sport consultant for training and access first). We built the whitelisting tool for organisations with multi-factor authentication set up for people using trusted and known IP addresses. With the whitelisting tool, you can specify a list of IP addresses that are trusted.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Anyone logging into Smartabase from a whitelisted IP address won\u2019t be required to re-authenticate whenever a network change is detected.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Expanded configuration options for connections between enterprise sites<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">We are continually working on improving support for our enterprise customers, and as a result we\u2019ve significantly expanded the flexibility of how the information can be linked between sites in hierarchical and peer-to-peer server configurations. Moreover, these linking options are now quicker and easier to use so that we can support our customers more efficiently. Please reach out to our service team if you are considering using an enterprise server configuration in your organisation or would like to know more.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #333333;\">General improvements and bug fixes<\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"padding-bottom: 16px;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">We\u2019ve improved searching behaviour in the <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/article\/reports-module\/\">reports tool<\/a> for situations when you\u2019re looking for all instances of a value being blank.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-bottom: 16px;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">When you make and save a change to how an event form is built, the warning message includes the number of future records that would be affected by your change.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-bottom: 16px;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">We\u2019ve removed the ability to download profile data directly from the <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/article\/profile-pages\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">profile form tool<\/a> in the builder interface. This was a legacy feature that has now been deprecated. Profile form data will continue to be available from the <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/article\/reports-module\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reports tool<\/a>, according to normal data permission rules set within your <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/article\/roles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">role<\/a>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-bottom: 16px;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">The tooltip for <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/article\/performance-standards\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">performance standards<\/a> wasn\u2019t appearing for the first row in a report but appeared on remaining rows. We\u2019ve fixed that and it will appear for all rows when they\u2019re hovered over.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-bottom: 16px;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">We fixed a typo in one of the OSICS <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/article\/body-diagrams\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">body diagram<\/a> options: AZXX Ankle Pain\/Injury not otherwsie specified has been updated to AZXX Ankle Pain\/Injury not otherwise specified.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-bottom: 16px;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">It\u2019s no longer possible to include commas in the email address field for a <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/article\/user-accounts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">user account<\/a>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-bottom: 16px;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">New Zealand daylight savings rules were being applied to the date of birth field in <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/article\/user-accounts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">user accounts<\/a>, which caused the date to be wrong in rare cases. This is now fixed.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-bottom: 16px;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">We\u2019ve resolved a problem that meant some <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/article\/smartabase-resources-overview\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">attachments and resources<\/a> could not be accessed as expected, which caused an error message to appear.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-bottom: 16px;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">We fixed an issue that prevented you from seeing <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/article\/critical-information\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">critical information<\/a> in the right-hand <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/article\/the-sidebar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">sidebar<\/a> if you didn\u2019t also have permission to view the left-hand <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/article\/the-sidebar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">sidebar<\/a> in your <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/article\/roles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">role<\/a>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-bottom: 16px;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">We\u2019ve addressed multiple issues with the process of managing performance alerts.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-bottom: 16px;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">When writing <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.fusionsport.com\/help\/article\/calculations-overview\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">calculations<\/a>, you may have noticed that the weekstart function could not accommodate leap years and returned erroneous results.
